1. Scope

This policy explains how Tow It collects, uses, stores, and shares personal data when you use our website, app, and related services.

2. Roles and responsibility

Tow It generally acts as a data controller for platform operations (request intake, matching, payment orchestration, communications, security, and support). Independent towing providers may act as separate controllers for the service they perform and for their own legal/compliance obligations.

3. Data we collect

Customer data may include:

  • Name, email, phone number.
  • Pickup and destination details, service request content, and status history.
  • Location data needed to quote, route, or execute a request.
  • Payment metadata (card data is handled by payment processors, not stored by Tow It as full card details).

Provider data may include:

  • Name, contact details, onboarding information, coverage and vehicle data.
  • Operational status, assignment history, and performance metrics.
  • Verification and compliance information submitted during onboarding.

Technical data may include:

  • IP address, browser/device metadata, logs, and security events.
  • Cookie and analytics preferences.

4. Purposes and legal bases

We process personal data under one or more of these legal bases:

  • Contract: to provide booking, assignment, payment, support, and account functions.
  • Legitimate interests: platform security, fraud prevention, service reliability, and operational improvement.
  • Legal obligation: accounting, tax, compliance, and lawful authority requests.
  • Consent: optional analytics, optional marketing, and other consent-based features where required.

5. Communications data use

  • Service and security communications may be sent by email, SMS, push, and WhatsApp where relevant to service delivery.
  • These transactional communications are sent under contract/legitimate interests and cannot be fully disabled while using the service.
  • Marketing communications are optional, consent-based where required, and can be unsubscribed from where provided.

6. Sharing of personal data

We share data only where needed for service operation, including:

  • Independent providers (for dispatch and service execution).
  • Payment and infrastructure partners (for processing and hosting).
  • Professional advisers and authorities where legally required.

We do not sell personal data.

7. International transfers

If data is transferred outside the EEA/UK, Tow It applies appropriate safeguards (for example contractual protections and security controls) as required by applicable law.

8. Retention

We keep data only as long as needed for service operation, dispute handling, fraud prevention, and legal/accounting obligations. Typical retention periods may extend up to 6 years where required for legal or financial records.

9. Security

Tow It uses technical and organizational measures such as encrypted transport, access controls, and monitoring to protect personal data.

10. Your GDPR rights

You may request:

  • Access to your data.
  • Correction of inaccurate data.
  • Deletion, where legally applicable.
  • Restriction or objection to certain processing.
  • Data portability where applicable.

To exercise rights, contact support@towit.ie.

11. Cookies and analytics

Tow It uses necessary cookies for core service operation and optional analytics based on your cookie preference choices. You can update preferences at any time through cookie settings.

12. Children

Tow It services are not intended for persons under 18, and we do not knowingly process personal data of children for service use.
